Uninstalling

In some cases users contact us asking to uninstall when all they wish to do is disable the feature (Auto-Search) that causes SideStep to open when a search is performed at another site. Below you will find the directions to disable Auto-Search as well as directions to uninstall SideStep completely.

TO DISABLE AUTO-SEARCH

  1. Open SideStep by clicking on the SideStep icon in your START MENU
  2. Click on the Preferences Link
  3. Uncheck the box next to AUTO-SEARCH
  4. Click SAVE
COMPLETE UNINSTALL:

You can remove it from your Windows computer by selecting from the Start Menu:

Programs > SideStep > IE Toolbar > Uninstall
If you no longer have it on your menu, you can go into your Windows Control Panel and remove it via Add or Remove Programs.

What are the System Requirements for SideStep?
SideStep requires a PC running Windows 95, 98, NT 4, ME, 2000 or XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 and above. For best performance, we suggest downloading the latest version of Internet Explorer.

Does SideStep work on Macintosh computers?
SideStep uses Microsoft's ActiveX technology to provide a unique experience for finding the best travel deals on the Internet. ActiveX is not currently supported by the Macintosh platform. Macintosh users searching for hotels or rental car discounts can visit SideStep.com
